Son of the late Thomas Ray and India “Pat” Hadaway Turner, Tidy was a wonderful, loving husband and a great father and grandfather.  He graduated from Jones County High School and attended Mercer University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.  He was a dairyman for several years in Jones County before serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was stationed at Arlington Hall, Virginia in ASA where he met his future wife, Patricia Ann Bishop.

Tidy really enjoyed feeding his deer, gardening, woodworking, working with his tractor, and keeping everything neat and looking beautiful.   He really enjoyed friends and would invite them over for a barbeque meal.   Ted and Martha Stone were two of his closest friends for 66 years and he considered them family. Tidy also enjoyed a lifetime of fishing, boating, golfing, reading, motorcycles, and traveling everywhere.

After serving in the Army, Tidy returned to the dairy for several years.  He then went to work for Independent Life Insurance for several years then went on to work for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company.   After 2 years, he was promoted to area manager of central Georgia, with his office being in Macon.  He was with Woodmen of the World for over 20 years before retiring.

Tidy enjoyed being a member of the Macon Motorboat Club where he enjoyed numerous trips down the Ocmulgee River and other water ways with his good friends.  He was also involved with their disaster unit.

Tidy was preceded in death by his great friend, Charles Jiles.  He is survived by his wife of 69 years and love of his life, Patricia Turner of Blue Ridge; 3 daughters, Deborah “Debbie” McClure of Smyrna, Georgia, Kay Tutt (Jay) of Duluth, Georgia, and Silena Donley (Doug Griffith) of Jacksonville, Alabama; grandchildren, Wesley McClure, Dee Clause, Sharon Tutt, Freda Giancola, Mary Tutt and April Fowler; and numerous great grandchildren.
