Sid Raley

Sid Raley, 85, of 215 Sea Palms Colony,St. Simons Island, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Christ Church, St. Simons Island, with the Reverend Mervyn Dunn officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, August 8, 2009 with the Reverend Harriett Simmons officiating in Riverside Cemetery, Macon, GA. The family may be contacted at 370 D Vista Circle in Macon.

Mr. Raley graduated from Lanier High School and attended Mercer University and Emory University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving in World War II. Mr. Raley was a member of Idle Hour Country Club. He was the son of the late John Sidney Raley and the late Florine Dent Raley. He was predeceased by his sister, Anita Raley Tillery.

Mr. Raley is survived by his wife, Margaret Corbin Raley of Macon and St. Simons Island; son, John Radford Raley of St. Simons Island; daughter, Sydney Raley Smith of St. Simons Island; stepchildren, Charles Culver Corbin, Jr. of Atlanta, Peter Reed Corbin of Jacksonville, FL and Mark Mitchell Corbin of Atlanta; and two nieces, Pat Clay of Lake Rabun, GA, and Ann Chassereau of Nashville, TN.
