Sean F. Mccue

January 29, 1940 — September 29, 2018

Sean F. McCue, born January 29, 1940 to the late John J. McCue, II and Mary Ellen Galloway McCue, died September 29, 2018 at the age of 78. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Hart’s at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Peter Claver Catholic School, 133 Ward St. Macon, GA 31204 or visit http://www.spccatholicschool.org/ways-to-give.

Sean was a generous soul who changed career paths from becoming a teacher and decided to serve as an orthopaedic surgeon. He began ministering to the sick and injured in private practice in 1980 and loved his work. After retirement, he spent his time keeping up with his grandchildren’s activities, whether it was swimming, flag corps, cross country, acting, singing, band, chorus, soccer, football, or even State Tech Fairs.

Sean climbed mountains all over the country, attempting to summit the 50 high points. He bicycled from Macon, Georgia to Chicago, twice and once, he bicycled to Tampa. He showed us how to ride over the Apennines of Italy from Bologna to Florence. He brought us to solar eclipses in Atlanta, St. Louis, Idaho, Hawaii, and Europe. A devout Catholic, he sponsored and went on trips to Medjugorje and Jerusalem. Camping in the Adirondacks, or running marathons in Hawaii, Sean always strove for the next level. God figured he’d done enough after he completed a triathlon (first in his age group!) on a beautiful Saturday morning in late September. We marvel at his accomplishments, and we’re going to miss the man who led so many, so far.

Sean leaves behind his five children, Mike McCue (Karen) of Macon, Michelle Brooks of Eatonton, Georgia, Patrick McCue (Jacquie) of Cleveland, Georgia, Cynthia Cruey (Charles) of Milledgeville, Georgia, and Joe McCue (Kenya Phillips) of Chicago, Illinois. He is also survived by four brothers and sisters, Terry McCue of Florida, Mary Ellen McCue of Florida, Connie McCue of Virginia, and Kerin McCue (Deborah) of Yonkers, New York, as well as, sisters-in-law, Judy McCue of Florida and Aunt Joan of Arizona. He loved spending time with 15 grandchildren many nieces, nephews, cousins, and, with a grandson on the way.

Sean was preceded in death by his wife, Glennice, by four years. Married for 46 years, he missed her greatly, and is surely having fun being reunited with her and the other angels, including his older brother, Jerry, whom he looked up to and who also died 4 years ago.
