Sarah Smith Morrow, age 77, of Macon, Georgia, peacefully passed away May 22, 2026, at her home in Macon. She was born on May 26, 1948, in Tifton, Georgia to the late Robert Earl Smith, Sr. and the late Sarah Lucile Strickland Smith.
Sarah spent the majority of her high school years at Waycross High School, where she took part in various clubs, including Glee Club and Tri-Hi-Y. She finished her senior year of high school at the much larger Albany High School as a member of the Class of 1966. Sarah made deep and lasting connections everywhere she went, and she found great joy in spending time with those she loved. As an adult, Sarah’s hard work and dedication to her family was paramount. Sarah was endlessly devoted to her late husband Don, following him across the globe and giving him two beautiful children, Jason and LeeAnna. Her love and support, both in his career and in his health journey, carried him through life’s ups and downs.
After moving to Macon in November of 1975, Sarah became a lifelong active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed mentoring the youth, sponsoring a variety of projects, and connecting with her community through fellowship and prayer. She believed deeply in the power of prayer. Her faith was the center of her life, and it grew tremendously over the years.
Sarah was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as Mimi, and she served as their biggest cheerleader and advocate. She adored traveling with her children and grandchildren and passed on her wanderlust and love of adventure. She relished sharing her established wisdom of cooking, gardening, and fashion with her grandchildren. Sarah had an enduring love for music of various genres, and would often share her favorite songs and music videos at a moment’s notice. She loved to dance and sing, and her house was never quiet. In recent years, her love of writing brought great joy to her and all who read her stories.
Sarah was generous, stylish, and left a lasting impression on anyone who met her. She lived life with fierce confidence, loved deeply and proudly, and always led by example. Her immense love for her family, steadfast faith, and zest for life will be remembered and treasured by all who were privileged to know her.
Sarah leaves behind her brother, Robert Earl Smith, Jr. (Nancy), her devoted children, Jason Jerome Morrow (Saranne) and LeeAnna Len Morrow Elder (Chad), four granddaughters, Sarah Lucille Morrow, Ellen Marie Elder, Emma Katherine Morrow, and Elizabeth Madeline Elder, two grandsons, Barret Ligon Morrow and Henry Swift Morrow, and six nieces and nephews, Timothy Morrow, Beth Morrow Martin (the late Lavon), Michael Morrow (Ashley), Laurie Smith Chitwood (Brian), Karen Smith Newmark (Vick), and Abigale Virginia Morton. Sarah is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Don Sherril Morrow, her parents, Robert Earl Smith, Sr. and Sarah Lucile Strickland Smith, and her grandparents.
