Sarah Elizabeth Connell

Sarah Elizabeth Connell of Macon died July 19, 2015 following a short illness. She was born September 25, 1926 in Macon to the late Earnest Shirley Connell and Mamie Keppler Connell. Elizabeth was active in the Y-Civic Club and Pilot Club and volunteered at Beacon Point. She was a devoted and active member of Christ Episcopal Church. Elizabeth retired from RAFB after thirty years of service. She was the first woman to become a configuration accounting specialist assigned to the Directorate of Materiel Management and the first person at Robins to be assigned fulltime to accounting functions beginning with the C-130. Elizabeth is survived by her nephews, Robert B. Hartzog (Ruth) of Gray, Georgia, Schuyler E. Grace (Nancy) of Mesa, Arizona, Dr. Michael S. Grace (Tanya) of Melbourne, Florida and Jeffrey C. Grace (Emilie) of Flowery Branch, Georgia; two great-nephews, three great-nieces, one great-great-nephew, two great-great-nieces and her beloved dog, Patches. Services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 2:00PM at Christ Episcopal Church with burial in Riverside cemetery. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 10:00AM until 12:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street. A reception will be held on Saturday from 12:30PM until 2:00PM at Christ Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 582 Walnut Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. Register online at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, 765 Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
