Sara Truesdel Parella

Sara Truesdel Parella died on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 10:30AM, at St. Francis Episcopal Church. The Reverends Ben Wells and Joseph Shipen will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Parella was born in Macon, Georgia on May 19, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Barnwell Rhett Truesdel and Sarah Clyde Truesdel. She graduated from Miller High School in Macon, Georgia. Mrs. Parella was employed at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta where she was executive assistant to Dr. Herndon for 27 years. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, and enjoyed traveling with her friends. She was a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church and charter member of St. Francis Episcopal Church. Mrs. Parella was the widow of Joseph John Parella. She was preceded in death by her sisters Etta Truesdel Mays, Martha Truesdel Miller and Elizabeth Truesdel Bragg, and her brothers B. Rhett Truesdel, Jr., Lemuel Davis Truesdel, and Julius Truesdel. She is survived by her loving son and caregiver, Michael Joseph Parella, nieces Helen Hunt and Cynthia Mitchell of Macon, Elizabeth Baer of Atlanta, and nephew L. Dave Truesdel of Knoxville, Tennessee.
