Sandy Goolsby

December 8, 1949 — January 17, 2012

Gray-Sara "Sandy" Goolsby, 62, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Gray United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ricky Varnell, the Reverend Jason Wade, Dr. Wayne Moseley, the Reverend John Haney and Cecil Ethridge officiating. Family will receive friends at Clinton United Methodist Church on Friday from 2:00-3:00PM for prayer and meditation in memory of Sandy. Also, the family will greet friends Thursday from 5:00-7:00PM at Jones Farm in Monticello. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clinton United Methodist Church, 110 Old Highway 18, Gray, Georgia 31032.

Sandy was born in Massillon, Ohio and moved to Macon in 1972 with Enterprise Aluminum Company. She was an active member of Clinton United Methodist Church. Sandy enjoyed her church life immensely and joined in many Bible study groups. She completed The Walk to Emmaus and continued in the Emmaus Reunion Group. Sandy was a Master Gardener. Gardening was a love she learned from her mother-in-law and dear friend, Louise Goolsby. Davis and Nate, her two grandsons, were her greatest joy and they lovingly called her "Nama". She was a graduate of Georgia College and State University. Sandy was a Real Estate broker with Fickling and Company and a life member of the Middle Georgia Association of Realtors Circle of Excellence.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Goolsby of Gray; daughter, Stephanie Sidaway Jones (Peter) of Monticello; two grandsons, Davis and Nate Jones, both of Monticello; mother, Sarah Bendure of Gray; two brothers, Thomas Bendure (Fran) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and Paul Bendure (Kathy) of Massillon, Ohio; sister, Christine Garzanich (Tom) of Boardman, Ohio, and numerous aunts, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Thomas Elwood Bendure, Sr.
