Mrs. Sandra L. Cadle died on April 7, 2025, in Macon, Georgia at Piedmont Macon Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Macon on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in the Undercroft of St. Paul’s with a Celebration of Life Reception immediately following the Memorial Service. Interment will be held in the evening at St. Paul’s Memorial Gardens and will be private for the family.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William R. Cadle of Macon; daughters, Lissa Cadle Versteegh (Ron) of Atlanta and Heather Cadle-Brown of Madison, Georgia; grandson, Garrett Versteegh of Atlanta; her devoted furry companion, Josey; and multiple other cherished relatives.
A native of Lawton, Oklahoma, she and her husband Bill had lived in Macon for 61 years. Sandy was always grateful for her many career opportunities and community leaders with which she worked. Her career path took her from a Realtor; Asst. V.P. of Personnel at Macon Federal Savings & Loan; Owner, Buttons & Bows Children’s Apparel; Executive Director of the American Cancer Society for Bibb, Jones & Crawford Counties where under her leadership the first Rose Ball and Gospelfest were started, and she was selected as the Top Staff Person in the state of Georgia; a Charter Member of the Charter Northside Hospital, she was one of the staff responsible for opening the hospital and served as Director of Marketing & Community Relations until she retired after 15 years of service. She then opened Unforgettable Flowers & Gifts and ultimately Unforgettable Shoppes.
It was her family she considered as the greatest gifts God had given her. An avid gardener, decorator, and gourmet cook, she loved entertaining and was known for giving grand parties. A member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church for 61 years; She served on the Vestry, Altar Guild, Flower Guild and taught Sunday School. Her love for Macon and especially the young people, led her to serve on multiple boards including American Girl Scouts, March of Dimes, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, American Heart, American Red Cross, Macon Transit Authority and Wesleyan College Board of Visitors. She was the first lady to serve as president of the Georgia Wives in Architecture. She was recognized by the Georgia House of Representatives for being an outstanding business leader, as well as a homemaker, mother and wife.
