Ruth Davis Smith

Ruth Davis Smith, widow of the late Raymond C. Smith died Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Bolingreen. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 15th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Hart's Cupola. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with her grandson, the Reverend Bart Smith and her minister Harry Goff officiating. Burial will be afterwards at Macon Memorial Park.

Ruth, daughter of the late Eugene Bartlett Davis and Pearl Holcombe Davis, was born in Porterdale, GA on August 28, 1922. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Holcombe Davis and Truman Eugene Davis and her sister Frances Davis Whitesell. Ruth graduated from Porterdale High School and attended the former Macon Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of North Macon Church of Christ, member and president of the National Guard Auxiliary, and the Four Seasons Garden Club.

Ruth was known for her kind, compassionate manner and was an excellent listener, a defining gift that served her well. Intentional in seeing the good, coupled with her love of home and family, she modeled Christian strength of character. She was blessed with a long life, rich in the love of family and friends of all ages. Ruth was grateful and she was adored.

A beloved "Granny", hours of support were given to her grandchildren and their friends in their chosen activities. She was an avid reader, an accomplished worker of jigsaw puzzles and sports fan, especially Mercer basketball.

Survivors include her son, Raymond C. "Ricky" Smith, Jr. (Suzann), her daughter, Susan Smith Jones (Girard); her grandchildren Aimee Underwood Jones, Lyn Paille, Jennifer Ruth Jones, George Girard Jones, Jr. (Mindy), Jonathan Clay Waddell (Ansley), Edward Bartlett Smith (Liz) and her great-grandchildren Avery and Graden Jones, Hannah and Hayes Waddell and several nieces and nephews. The family will be at the residence of Girard and Susan Jones, 327 Wesley Circle, Macon.
