After a lengthy illness, Ruth Eileen Pomroy died May 22, 2013, surrounded by loving friends. Her career had been as a Court Reporter, in New York, Macon and Atlanta, where she had her own firm. She also raised prize-winning Manchester Terriers. After retirement, she moved to Bollingbroke, and then, Macon; where she spent her time collecting antiques, quilting and volunteering. She was a Master Gardner, a superb cook, and an avid canasta player and Braves fan. She is predeceased by her parents, William H. and Ethel M. Pomroy; and grandparents, Frederick and Cora Converse Mansur, of Springfield , Massachusetts. Her grandfather lived with Ruth for a number of years. Ruth's longtime close friend, Madrid Loyd Williams, also predeceased her, as well as her ex-husband, Jose Menendez. She was one of the founders of the Heart of Georgia Quilt Guild and participated in their activities until lately. Her quilts won many awards including "My Baltimore Album," which won second in the International Quilt Association Competition, 1998. Ruth delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered for Golden Opportunities as long as she was able. She served as Mary Wiley's eyes at the grocery store and in the check-book for several years. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist. She is survived by her niece-in-law, Liz Menendez, Tampa, FL. Also left remembering this remarkable lady are friends: Ashley and Mary Hurt, Ann Gardner, Jill Boyd, Margie Rabun, Cherry Young, Mary Wiley, Cindy Carlisle, Laureen Wooten and members of the Nine Patch Friendship Group and Quilt Guild. Recognition should be made of her excellent care-givers, Rhonda Wimberly and Tina Fuller, who gave her such faithful and loving care in her final years.
