Ruth Matthis Holmes

Macon- Ruth Matthis Holmes passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11:00AM at Vineville United Methodist Church with Dr. Marcus Tripp and the Reverend Jimmy Duke officiating. Burial will be at 4:00PM at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Tifton, GA. The family will receive friends at Vineville United Methodist Church on Friday from 10:00AM until 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Avenue, Macon, GA 31204. Mrs. Holmes was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church. She was a registered nurse, retired from the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Mrs. Holmes was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Theron A. Holmes, a sister, Vera Rosencranse and a brother, Harold Matthis. Mrs. Holmes is survived by her children, Linda H. Smith (J'on) of Milledgeville, GA, Jane H. Dunn (Bill) of Conyers, GA and John P. Holmes (Mary) of Macon, GA; sister, Ida Matthis of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Jos Smith, Taylor Rebecca Smith, Trey Dunn, Heather Dunn, Beth Holmes, and John Paul Holmes, Jr. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
