Russell O. Bentley

Russell O. Bentley, 96, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm, Monday, June 1, 2026, at Vineville Baptist Church, with the Reverend Bill Brown officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary. Burial will follow the service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.

Russell was born on August 7, 1929, in Muscadine, Alabama to the late William Edgar Bentley and Alma Deese Bentley. In 1973, he moved to Georgia and built a long and successful career in the insurance industry. He retired from Liberty National in 1980 and continued working until his final retirement in 2021, marking 61 years in the industry. A devoted member of Vineville Baptist Church since 2019, Russell valued his faith and church family deeply.

Russell enjoyed spending time with his family and found great joy in fishing, golfing, and working in his yard.

Russell is survived by his sons: Larry Bentley (Beverly) of Tallapoosa, Georgia, Steven Bentley (Darlene) of Muscadine, Alabama, and Jerry Bentley of Macon, Georgia; grandchildren: Nicholas Bentley (Tanya) of Waco, Georgia, Jessica Adams (Caleb) of Tallapoosa, Georgia, and Nicole Bentley (Holly) of Temple, Georgia; and seven greatgrandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Beam Bentley; stepson, Nathan Thompson; brothers, Elvin Bentley, and Charles Bentley; and sister, Doris Anderson.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brightmoor Hospice; and his caregivers, Carol Williams, Bessie Rozier, and Vivian McClinton for their loving compassion.
