Rueben Allen Akin, 68, “Man of God” of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Hart’s at the Cupola with the Reverend Mike Jones officiating. The family will greet friends for a reception following the service.
Allen was born on April 28, 1958, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late Rueben Claude Akin, Jr. and Allowee Burns Akin. He was a graduate of Mercer University and later earned his law degree from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta. He was the owner and operator of Encore Motors and attended Heritage Methodist Church. He adored his wife, Sandy. She was his sweetheart and the love of his life.
Allen was a kind and intelligent man who never met a stranger. He loved cars, and especially enjoyed Formula 1 Racing, going to car shows and attending various car club trips. He was also a member of the Porsche and Mercedes-Benz car clubs. He loved to travel and was also an excellent musician, gifted as both a drummer and a singer. He was a lifelong music lover with a playlist for every mood and era. He had the unique ability to recall words to any song he ever heard or played. Allen played in his first band “gig” at age six.
Allen lived his Faith quietly through acts of kindness, generosity and honesty. He firmly believed in doing the right thing, even when no one was looking and his integrity was a guiding force in his personal and professional life.
Allen’s legacy is one of service, commitment, and love. He was always there to support those around him. His impact on his community and his family will be remembered with love and gratitude. He will be remembered for his faith, his friendly nature, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. A man of God, Allen is now at peace with Jesus.
Allen is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Akin of Macon; daughter, Lori Brown (Jeff); and special friends, Frankie Tripp and Lisa Evans.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Methodist Church, 4062 Vineville Ave, Macon, GA 31210.
