Rubye E. Taylor

Ms. Rubye E. Taylor, 86, of Vidalia, Georgia, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024.  Funeral services will be Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00AM at Pitts Chapel Methodist Church, with the Reverend John Haney officiating.  Interment at Pitts Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery will follow the service.  The family will greet friends Friday, October 11, 2024 at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel from 5:00PM to 7:00PM.

Rubye was born in Lizella, Georgia to the late Joseph and Mary Williams.  Her father was a former pastor of Pitts Chapel, and Rubye was a long-time member there.  Rubye’s life was characterized by her spirit of service and the way she took care of the people around her.  She served in the U.S. Air Force as a nurse, and after her service, she continued working as a registered nurse for over 40 years. Rubye’s most important work was done in her own home raising her three children.  They remember her as having every good attribute they could have wanted in a mother.  Rubye was an integral part of her children’s lives for as long as she lived.  She had many friends and loved to travel.   Rubye will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Rubye is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Williams (June); brother, Billy Williams; brother, George Williams (Barbara); sister-in-law, Sandra Williams; brother-in-law, Jim Bryant; son-in-law, Benny Cliff; and grandson, Joshua Cliff.

Rubye is survived by her son, Bruce Gregory Taylor (Paula) of Sugar Land, Texas; daughter, Cheryl Taylor Cliff, M.D. (Benny, deceased) of Vidalia, Georgia; son, Guerry Wayne Taylor of Dallas, Georgia; brother, Roy Williams of Gray, Georgia; sister, Frances Bryant of Bailey, North Carolina; grandchildren, Stephen Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Haley Acosta, Taylor Becker, Maelyn Taylor, Shawn Wimmer, Caitlyn Clark, J.D., Tyler Cliff, Joshua Cliff (deceased), Annalisa Taylor, and Jessica Taylor; along with eleven great-grandchildren.
