Roy Ward Wyche, Jr, 95, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Riverside Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Jimmy Asbell. A Celebration of Life will follow the service from 2PM-4PM at Carlyle Place in the Grande Ballroom.
Roy was born in Macon on December 19, 1928, to the late Roy Ward Wyche, Jr and Annie Claire Bragg Wyche. A graduate of Lanier High School for Boys in 1946, Roy extended his education at Mercer University before earning his BBA degree with a major in accounting from Emory University. Roy worked as a certified public accountant for 45 years, and was a partner at the firm of Butler, Williams, and Wyche until his well-deserved retirement in 1997.
Roy’s professional dedication was mirrored in his community involvement. He was the treasurer of the Georgia Society of CPA's, in addition to chairing its Finance Committee. His commitment to service extended to his lifelong membership at Vineville United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees and the Finance Committee, co-chaired the Building Committee, and was an engaged member of the Mack Anthony Sunday School Class.
Beyond his career and church activities, Roy was a participant in a variety of organizations. He held memberships with the Georgia Society of CPA’s, the American Institute of CPA’s, the Macon Lions Club, Kappa Alpha Order, Wolihin Masonic Lodge, and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was also Treasurer of Vine-Ingle Little League for many years.
Roy is survived by his children, Neil Wyche (Robin) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Glenn Wyche (Ellen) of Macon, and Stephen Wyche (Sally) of Roswell, Georgia; grandchildren: Jessica, Jamie, Laura, Emily, Becky, Natalie, and Sarah; great-grandchildren: Teddy, Susanna, Joy, Garrett, Julie, David, and Henry.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife and “girlfriend” of 72 years, Elizabeth Ann Camp Wyche.
