Roy Wates Miller Sr.

Roy Wates Miller, Sr. passed away on June 10, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 11:00AM at Hart's Mortuary on Cherry Street, with the visitation one hour prior. Burial will be private at Haddock Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Little Books Ministry, 1365 Georgia Avenue, Macon, GA 31208. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Hattie Miller; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Powell and Paige Mixon; and two brothers and four sisters. He was a 50 year member of the Mickey Fuller Masonic Lodge and the American Legion Post 3. He was a charter member of Little Beaver Hunting Club in Round Oak, GA and was a former longtime member of St. James Episcopal Church. Roy worked for 35 years at Robins Air Force Base as a Management Analyst. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading and other activities. He was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs, and always looked forward to playing cards every Wednesday afternoon. Roy loved his family above all else. Roy is survived by his wife, Joan Sams Miller of Macon, GA; daughters, Penny Mixon of Arlington, TX and Linda Stephens (Tom) of Macon, GA; son, Roy Miller, Jr. (Barbara) of Macon, GA; grandchildren, Brooke Hall (Ronnie) of Arlington, TX, Shelly Wall (Jacob) of Arlington, TX, Chris England of Birmingham, AL, and Madeline Miller of Macon, GA; great grandchild, Luca Wall of Arlington, TX.
