Rose Marie Alderman Brantley, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away on May 7, 2017, at Westminster Oaks after a lengthy illness. Rose Marie Alderman was born in Macon, GA, on October 22, 1931, to Wilton Byron Alderman and Rose Rankin Alderman. She graduated from Breneau Academy in Gainesville, GA, and Mercer University in Macon, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was a long-time resident of Macon, where she raised her family and was active in civic affairs, including Friends of the Library, the American Red Cross, the Bloodmobile, the PTA, and Riverside Methodist Church. She was a life-long birdwatcher and outdoor enthusiast and participated for many years in the annual Audubon Society bird count. Rose Marie moved to St. Simons Island, GA, in 1998. While living there she was employed by Savannah Laboratories in environmental testing and by J.A. LaPorte, Inc. at the Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in St. Marys, GA. In 2002, she moved to Tallahassee, to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Haskew H. Brantley, of Atlanta and St. Simons Island. She is survived by her daughters, Jann Bellamy (Ray) of Tallahassee and Patricia Coulter (Chris) of Waynesville, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rosemary Evans, of Tallahassee, Chad Coulter (Lauren) of Louisville, KY, and Andrew Hart of New York City, NY, and her great-grandchildren, John Patrick and Isabella Evans, and Grayson Coulter. Additional survivors include stepchildren Jackie Brantley, of Suwanee, GA, Lynn Brantley (Doug Tuttle), of Glenville, NV, Sue Lipson (Danny), of Great Barrington, MA, and David Brantley, of St. Simons Island, and her former husband and the father of her daughters, Hunter Johnson, of Macon.
