Rose Rankin Alderman, age 100, passed away in Tallahassee, Florida, on Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Macon, Georgia, at 2 p.m., Friday, December 30, Rev. Jim Hwang, of Centenary Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Alderman was born in Macon, Georgia, to the late Thomas C. and Alberta Jarratt Rankin on April 17, 1911. She graduated from Lanier High School in Macon and attended Georgia State College for Women (now Georgia College) in Milledgeville. She was married to Wilton Byron Alderman, who preceded her in death. She was employed by First National Bank (now Sun Trust) in Macon for over thirty years. Upon her retirement, she moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia, and then to Tallahassee, Florida, to be closer to family. Mrs. Alderman was a lifelong member of Centenary Methodist Church, in Macon, and at the time of her death was its oldest member. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Alderman Brantley, of Tallahassee, formerly of Macon, and two granddaughters, Jann Johnson Bellamy (Ray), also of Tallahassee, and Patricia Johnson Coulter (Chris) of Colbert, Georgia. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Rosemary Evans (Tim) and Andrew Hart, of Tallahassee, and Chad Coulter (Lauren) of Louisville, Kentucky, and two great-great-grandchildren, John Patrick and Isabella Rose Evans, of Tallahassee. The family wishes to thank Leslie Clayton, of Hopewell Nursing and Living Assistance, Tallahassee, for her loving and devoted care in the past two years, and Big Bend Hospice, Tallahassee, for its guidance and care during Mrs. Alderman's final illness.
