Ronald Russell Jones, of Macon, Ga. died Saturday morning, November 14, 2009 at his home after battling the effects of diabetes. He lived all of his life in Macon. He was born on February 9, 1944, the eighth child of Susie Ethel Thomas and Thomas Clinton Jones. In his early years he worked at the river swamp planting crops with his father. He graduated from Willingham High School in 1963. He worked at the Rock Quarry before becoming a machinist at Robins Air Force Base, where he worked for 30 years. He was a loving husband and father and always taught his children the value of work. Ronald is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and he helped build the church located at Williamson Road. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Gloria Jones, his daughter Julie Hester and her husband David Hester, his son Clint Jones, his daughter Joy Jones, and his daughter Susan Hurt and her husband Curtis Hurt. His four sisters are Marie McCullough, June Hawkins, Joyce Sellers and Ena Boland. The family will receive friends for visitation at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, on Monday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1624 Williamson Road, with Bishop Dennis Applebee officiating. The burial will be at the Jones Family Cemetery at 5171 Mount Pleasant Church Road. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road has charge of arrangements.
