Ronald James Franklin

July 31, 1947 — May 19, 2009

Macon-Ronald James Franklin died Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Services will be held 3:00PM on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverends Rodney Queen and John Prettyman officiating. Burial will be at Monroe Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be between 2:00-3:00PM before the service on Sunday at Hart's at the Cupola. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 3312 Northside Drive, 140-A, Macon, GA 31210. The family may be contacted at 441 Pecan Circle, Forsyth, the residence of Lesley and Jeff Blizzard.

Mr. Franklin was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Viet Nam. He attended Dudley Hughes High School. He was saved and baptized at Cochran Field Baptist Church. Mr. Franklin worked in the refrigeration business for years and managed Pameco Corporation from 1984-1996. He owned Franklin and Son Trucking from 1996-2008, and was currently employed with Pierce Sales and Service until his death. Mr. Franklin was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed hunting with his son and grandchildren. Mr. Franklin was predeceased by his parents, John Buford Franklin and Evelyn Young Franklin.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Susan Franklin of Smarr; son, Michael Franklin of Smarr; daughter, Lesley Franklin Blizzard (Jeff) of Forsyth; grandchildren, Kaleb Franklin, Kameron Franklin and Karson Franklin, all of Smarr, Brianna Blizzard and Jacob Blizzard, both of Forsyth; sister, Martha Roberts (Gene) of Gray; niece, Angela Michaud (David) and their children, Amber and Jessi Zegers and Scott Michaud, all of Gray; nephew, Robert Romeiser (Stephanie) and their children, Kayla, Theo and Meghan all of Spartanburg, SC.; and many more extended family members, aunts, uncles and cousins of Canton, GA.
