Ronald L. Carter

Mr. Ronald L. Carter, 83, resident of Byron, GA, passed away peacefully Sunday,

February 19, 2023.  At his request, no service will be held.

Mr. Carter served in both the Army National Guard and the United States Air Force before his discharge in 1962.  He worked at the Macon Telegraph for many years as reporter and then City Editor.  His career spanned several newspapers before he retired from journalism to focus on his writing career.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Carter, and his mother, Lois Sapp (Carter) Staples, his stepfather, Eddie Staples, and sibling, Beverly Hall.  He is survived by his daughter, Frances (Paul) Purcell and his sibling, Linda Staples Field.

The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
