Roger C. Murphey, Jr.

Roger C. Murphey, Jr., 77, of Macon, GA, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, July 22, 2022, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Roger was born September 10, 1944, to the late Roger Clifton Murphey, Sr. and Mary Grace Patterson Murphey. He was a 1966 graduate of Georgia Southern University. He began working in real estate with Hudson & Marshall in 1968, and later established a long career as a real estate developer with Moore & Murphey Company and most recently, BMW Developers. He was an avid golfer and sports fan. Roger loved the Lord and was a charter and active member of Northway Church. He loved his friends as if they were family.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Toni Hudson Murphey, of Macon; his three sons: Roger C. Murphey, III of Warner Robins, Ross Murphey (Janna) of Cumming, and Mitch Murphey of Macon; his two grandchildren, Liam and Austin Murphey, both of Cumming; elder sister, Rosalyn Adcox, of Atlanta; younger brother, Pat Murphey (Connie), of Statesboro; many nieces and nephews; and his loyal dogs, Jack and Sadie.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:30pm, on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Northway Church, with the Reverend Kevin Mills officiating. The family will greet friends at Hart’s at the Cupola on Peake Road on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, from 5pm to 7pm; the family will also gather with friends at Northway Church following Thursday’s memorial service where Roger’s favorite Krispy Kreme doughnuts will be served. Roger will be laid to rest in his favorite blue golf shirt. In that spirit, all guests are encouraged to dress in casual attire. He would want everyone to be comfortable.

A private burial service will be held Thursday morning at Riverside Cemetery.
