Roger “Mike” Dodd, 82, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on March 1, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in the Chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola. The family will greet friends for a reception following the service.
Mike was born April 25, 1942, in Macon, to the late Roger Dodd Jr. and Edna Sikes Dodd. He attended public schools in Macon, graduating from Lanier Senior High School for Boys in 1960, where he was named best athlete. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1964, where he was a member of SAE fraternity.
Following graduation from UNC, Mike served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1964 to 1967, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
Mike again served his country for twenty-four years as a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), including assignments in Washington, D.C., Quantico, VA, St. Louis, MO, Dayton, OH, San Diego, CA, and Greensboro, N.C..
He worked primarily on bank robberies and other reactive type cases as well as white collar crime matters such as bank fraud and securities fraud. He enjoyed his work and often said he would have done it for nothing if he could afford it.
Following retirement from the FBI in 1994, he moved back to Macon and worked as a U.S. Government contractor for many years.
He attended Vineville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Chancel Choir for twenty-three years.
Mike is survived by his wife of almost 22 years, Marty Booth Dodd of Macon; son, Roger Dodd IV (Emi) of Macon; daughters, Ginger Chew (Baxley) of Augusta, Georgia and Caroline Dodd Peterson of Macon; stepsons, Dr. Josh Lane (Dr. Tanda) of Columbus, Georgia and David Lane (Jana) of Forsyth, Georgia; stepdaughter, Kate Lane Morgan (Dr. Alan) of Watkinsville, Georgia; thirteen grandchildren, Hana Dodd, Mike Dodd, Henry Chew, Virginia Chew, Stella Chew, Lily Peterson, Alexa Lane, Max Lane, Reagan Peacock, Hayden Peacock, Will Morgan, Jack Morgan, and Henry Morgan; sister, Josephine Dodd Solomon of Macon; brothers-in-law, David Booth (Annette) of Dacula, Georgia, Bob Booth (Lorraine) of East Petersburg, Pennsylvania; and sister-in-law, Colleen Pickford Booth of Spring House, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dr. J. Richard Booth of Spring House, Pennsylvania.
