Roderick "Roddy" Allen Herring

Roderick "Roddy" Herring passed away February 23, 2018. Graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00AM with the Reverend Mark Hudgins and E.Y. Stokes officiating. The family will greet friends at the graveside after the service. Flowers are welcomed, or donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Roddy met the love of his life, Sandra Allagood, when she was 13 years old. They were married five years later and remained happily married for 56 years. He was an attentive and loving husband, daddy, and granddaddy. Roddy was a longtime, faithful member of Mabel White Baptist Church where he attended the J.C. Johnson Sunday School Class. He retired from Inland Container with 26 years of service. In recent years, Roddy enjoyed working in the gift shop at Carlyle Place, where he made lasting friendships. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and the Army Reserve. Roddy is survived by his wife, Sandra Herring; son, Keith Herring; daughter, Kellie Sise (Bob); sister, Myrtice Armstrong (Jack); sister, Mary Roberson (Buddy Sapp); granddaughter, Katie Rushing (Dustin); and grandson, Jonathan Rutland.
