Robert Winston Word, Jr.

Robert Winston Word, Jr., 89, of Crawford County, Georgia, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024.  A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.

Son of the late, Robert W. Word, Sr. and Mary Allen Word, Robert was born in Macon, Georgia, on June 20,1934.  After a fulfilling career, Robert retired from PPG and subsequently from Lucas Aerospace, where he was known for his dedicated service and commitment. His work ethic and professional involvement left a lasting impact on all who worked alongside him.

Robert was a devoted member of the Thomaston Road Church of Christ. His presence will be greatly missed by his church family,

Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Maxine Word of Crawford County; children, Barbara W.  Herring (Jerry) of Morven, Georgia, Steven J. Word of Crawford County, and Mary Hopper of Crawford County; grandchildren: Danny Brownlee, Tyler Brownlee, Arrilea Herring, Steven Word Jr. (Erika), and Chris Hopper (Savannah); great grandchildren, Makalyn Meyer, Cambrie Meyer, John Luke Hopper, and Brantley Cash Hopper; great great grandchild, Blair Rose Leverett; and sisters, Brenda Shivers (Ronnie), and Carol Britt (Phil).

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Barry Lamar Thompson; son-in-law, Dennis Hopper; and brothers, Douglas Word and John Richard Word.
