Robert F. Stephens, Sr.

Robert F. Stephens, of Macon, GA went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 2, 2010. Mr. Stephens was born August 7, 1933 in Bainbridge, GA to Elise and Richard Stephens. He graduated from Bainbridge High School, and after attending college, served in the United States Army. With his family, he made his home in Cartersville, GA for seventeen years. In 1975 he moved to Macon, founded Stephens Oil Company on Vineville Avenue, and took pleasure in serving the community until 1993. He was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship of the Mary Forrester Bible Class. Mr. Stephens was an Al Sihah Shriner, a Royal Jester. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Stephens is survived by Marjorie Stephens, his wife of 56 years; his daughter, Sherryl Myrick, her husband Kerry; his son Robby Stephens, his wife Julie; his daughter Carol Stephens Chapman; six grandchildren, Kristen Lekberg, Meridith Ussery, Josh Stephens, Jenna Stephens, Daniel Chapman, and Laci Chapman; his sister, Thelma Watts; and his sister-in-law Joyce Stephens. His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, which says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life." Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 3:00PM at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverend Andy Oxford officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
