Robert Sevier Brown

Macon-Robert Sevier Brown, 68, of Cashiers, North Carolina and Destin, Florida ended his brave fight with cancer on January 9, 2011 in Destin. He was born on January 21, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Sequoyah Hunt Brown and Nell Wood Brown. During high school, he went to Louisiana Boys State where was elected Governor. He graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport and was named "Most Friendly" of his class. Bob lived up to that title the rest of his life, making a friend of every person he encountered and leaving behind countless people who loved him in many states. Bob was an SAE at Vanderbilt University where he graduated in 1964 with a major in history. He studied Russian at Yale University, planning to continue his work in the former USSR but was stopped by the Cuban Missile Crisis. He received his graduate degree from Texas A&M University in water engineering. Bob had a wide variety of interests reflected by multiple careers in paper manufacturing, real estate, off shore and land development, world trade, sales, and water purification. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Alice Thompson Brown, six children: Lattie Miller Brown, Hunt Sevier Brown, Parke Nelson Brown (daughter?in?law Rhonda), Meredith Brown Melançon (son?in?law David), Mitchell Gerlach Brown, and Catherine Rodrigue Donnelly; seven grandchildren: Ann Acklen Brown, Jack Crawford Brown, William Hunt Brown, Miller Noel Brown, Blades Acklen Brown, Barrett James Donnelly, and Tate Paul Donnelly; as well as his brother Timothy Richard Brown (sister?in-law Suzanne) and nieces Tiffani Brown Jinks, Laura Piper Brown, and Allyson Brown Schrauff. The graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, January 14, 2011, in Macon, Georgia at Riverside Cemetery with the Reverend Jon Appleton officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until 1:45PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, prior to the graveside service. Donations can be made to the St. Labre Indian School at www.stlabre.org.
