Robert Hugh Park
October 29, 1941- February 3, 2025
Robert was affectionately known as “Pop” by his grandkids, but to many, he was “Doc,” the man in the white coat counting pills behind the counter at Powell’s Riverside Pharmacy. He took great pride in his work, cherishing the friendships he built with coworkers and customers alike.
Outside the pharmacy, Robert had a competitive streak that showed up in just about everything he did. Whether it was on the golf course, coaching Little League at Vine-Ingle, or playing cards with friends, Robert loved a good challenge. He had a quick wit and sharp mind that was evident in everything he did.
A graduate of Lanier High School, Robert went on to earn his pharmacy degree from Auburn University and his pride and passion for Auburn football and basketball never faded. War Eagle! The orange and blue was almost always on display on the baseball caps that he wore every day.
Even in retirement, Robert stayed active, channeling his energy into planting his beloved daylilies, watching sports on TV, diving into a book, and, of course, playing cards with his friends. His competitive spirit, warm heart, strong wit, and gentle nature will be deeply missed.
Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Hadden Park, their children,
Debbie Park Tomlin (Clarke) of Cumming, GA, Scott Park (Dana), Brannen Park (Sarah), also of Macon, GA; and grandchildren Abbey Tomlin Sutherland (Austin), Griffin Tomlin, Elliott Park, Cameron Park, Hadden Park, and Mary Stuart Park. He is also survived by his two brothers, John Park (Elaine) and George Park (Mary), as well as his nieces Julie Holseth (Steve) and Laura Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give a donation to the charity of your choice.
Funeral will be private.
