Robert Lenwood George, Jr.

Robert Lenwood George, Jr. 86, of Macon, passed away August 21, 2017. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 10 am to 12:00 pm at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210. Graveside services will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Benedict Cemetery in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. Mr. George was the Vice President and plant manager of Bassett Furniture Industries. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean War in Cuba. While there, he met his wife, Clara, who was a Navy nurse. He enjoyed playing golf regularly with his good friends. Mr. George attended the University of North Carolina and graduated from North Carolina State University. He is predeceased by his wife, Clara Wienczek George and his parents, Robert Lenwood George, Sr. and Louise Smith George. Mr. George is survived by daughter, Victoria George and her spouse, Tamera Cameron, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and cousin, Betty Lou Pigg and her husband, Ronald, of Virginia.
