  • Robert Ossian “Bobby” Duke, age 79, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 11am at Immanuel Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia with a graveside service following at 3pm at Flovilla South Cemetery in Flovilla, Georgia. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2-5pm at Hart’s Mortuary in Gray, Georgia.

Bobby was born on June 24, 1947, in Flovilla, Georgia, to Emory Morton and Sara Elizabeth Duke. Bobby married Sandra Kay Cook, of Macon, Georgia, at Cross Keys Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia on May 22, 1971. He was known for being a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, son, brother, uncle, friend, neighbor and loyal employee. Bobby & Sandra were married for 55 years. Bobby served honorably for six years in the National Guard. He began his career with Georgia Power in Jonesboro, went to Macon, to Brunswick, and back to Macon throughout his forty-two-year career until his retirement. He also served on the board of the Macon Georgia Power Credit Union. He finished his work as an electrical contractor at Warner Robins Air Force Base. In retirement, he served his local community by being a faithful church member of Immanuel Baptist Church, being a compassionate neighbor, and a true friend to all those he encountered with a need. He and Sandra cherished the many trips they made to visit their children and grandchildren.

Although Bobby grew up in church, taught Sunday School, and served in many capacities, his life was forever changed while attending a revival service at Immanuel Baptist Church in the 1970s. There, he repented of his sins and gave his life to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. From that day forward, his life and service were different, and those around him could see the change. His love for the Lord was evident in the way he faithfully served and cared for others throughout the rest of his life. Bobby was not perfect, but he faithfully trusted in the One who is. He continued teaching Sunday School for many years, sharing his faith and love for the Lord with others.

Bobby is survived by his wife Sandra Cook Duke, son Buddy (Misty), daughter Marie (Derrick), his six grandchildren, his brothers, Frank (Bonnie), Gene (Donna), and Emory (Jo), sister-in-law Zoe Duke, and brother-in-law, John Howell, and loving in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Morton “Buster” Duke and sister Emily Howell.

In lieu of flowers, Bobby asked that memorial donations be made to Bancroft Gospel Ministry www.bancroftgospelministry.org or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/.
