Robert Grice Dennard, 94, of Macon, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola. The family will receive friends at the Taylor residence following the service. A private Inurnment will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Robert was born in Macon, Georgia on May 7, 1927, to the late Samuel Emmett Dennard, Sr. and Ruth Amanda Grice Dennard. He graduated from Lanier High School, and then joined the United States Navy for the end of World War II. After proudly serving his country, Robert began working at Robins Air Force Base as a Systems Analyst until he retired 30 years later. In 1952 he married the love of his life, Edith Youngblood Dennard, and together they had four daughters.
Robert was a lifelong member of the former Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer, and loved fishing, gardening, and spending time outdoors. More than anything he loved his family.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Patricia Dennard Thompson, Peggy Dennard Chastain (Larry), and Teresa Dennard Taylor (Kirk), all of Macon, Georgia; son-in-law, Wes Peavy (Jill), of Lizella, Georgia; grandchildren: Kim Thompson Schweizer (Bob), of High Point, North Carolina, Stephanie Thompson Vogler (Marty), of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Karen Thompson, of Jeffersonville, Georgia, Amy Chastain, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lindsey Chastain Strevig (Todd), of Warner Robins, Georgia, Emily Sparks, of New York City, New York, Megan Sparks, of Athens, Georgia, and Robert Peavy, of Tampa, Florida; great grandchildren: Daylin Collins (BJ), of High Point, North Carolina, Kayla Dowdy (Brandon), of Calhoun, Georgia, Joshua Sexton, of Jeffersonville, Georgia, Aleah Sexton, of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Sage Pritchard (Jake Windham), of Macon, Georgia, and Sam Pritchard, of Macon, Georgia; brother-in-law, Ed Youngblood (Betty), of Mississippi; sister-in-law, Ollie Mae Youngblood, of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by, his wife of 67 years, Edith Alice Youngblood Dennard; daughter, Beverly Dennard Peavy; and brother, Samuel Emmett Dennard, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's honor to The Methodist Home for Children & Youth, at 304 Pierce Ave., Macon, GA 31204
