Macon- Robert H. Childres (Bobby) was born in Butler, GA, in 1935 to William F. and Annie Mae Childres. In 1953, he relocated to Macon to work for Lowe Electric Company. Three years later, he married Kathleen Watson Childres, his high school sweetheart. He retired from Lowe Electric after 35 years of devoted service. He attended Cherokee Heights Methodist Church; was a member of Golden K Kiwanis; volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army and the Ocmulgee Indian Mounds. Of his accomplishments from a successful career to controlling Middle Georgia's bass population-the achievement that gave him the most joy was his 56 year marriage. He touched the lives of many and is cherished by everyone who met him. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Childres; son, Harold and Stephanie Childres of Fairhope, AL; daughter, Kathy and Richard Moody, of Macon, GA; and seven grandchildren; Robbie, Vickie, Justin, Jason, Kristen, Zachary and Taylor Childres Funeral services will he held Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 3:00PM, in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary on Cherry Street. Burial will be at Macon Memorial Park. Reverend Gary Starrett will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2010 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM, at Hart's Mortuary on Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church, Hwy 90, Mauk, Georgia 31058 or to the Meals on Wheels, 1212 Gray Hwy. Macon, Ga. 31211. Friends may sign the online register at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
