Macon- Robert J. "Bob" Allen, 85, of Carlyle Place died Monday, August 24, 2009. Entombment will be 10:30AM at Perry Memorial Gardens, Perry GA. on Saturday, August 29, 2009. Services will be 2:00PM at Northminster Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Jarred Hammet officiating. A 3:30PM visitation will follow in the Grande Ballroom at Carlyle Place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1160 Forsyth Street, Macon GA 31201, or the Carlyle Place Endowment Fund, PO Box 6000, Macon GA 31294. During World War II, Bob served with General Patton in the United States Army in the 94th Division. He was stationed in western France and fought in the Battle of the Bulge for which he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Bob was a native of Akron, OH and the son of Cecil C. and Regina Boyle Allen. He was a graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at the university, he was affiliated with Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. After graduating he worked for B.F. Goodrich and then with Ohio Box Board. He was transferred to Indiana with Packing Corporation of America and while there lived in Crown Point, IN. Mr. Allen was an enthusiastic golfer and a member of Youche Country Club. In 1975, Mr. Allen was transferred to Macon with Packaging Corp. and lived in Perry, GA. He was a Professional Engineer and a member of Perry Country Club for 26 years. He retired in 1979 and enjoyed many years of golfing, fishing and boating. Mr. Allen also enjoyed traveling and made many trips in both the United States and in foreign countries. Cruising was one of his favorite things to do. Mr. Allen is survived by this wife of 61 years, Kathryn "Kay" Allen. He is also survived by two sons, David W. Allen and his wife Connie of Indian Rocks Beach, FL and Scott D. Allen and his wife Janelle of Adrian, MI.; one sister, Barbara Markowitz of Southfield, MI. and three grandchildren, Samuel Allen, D.
