Robbie Buchanan Kimsey
November 23, 1916 — November 14, 2009
Robbie Buchanan Kimsey passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009 after a short illness. She was the daughter of James T. Buchanan and Ruby Buchanan of Clarkesville, Tennessee, born November 23, 1916. In 1946 she married Mark L. Kimsey, Jr., her husband until his death in 1976.
Mrs. Kimsey attended training for Western Union in New York City, after which she traveled throughout the Southeast for the company. She and Mr. Kimsey wound up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi until 1949 when they were transferred to Macon where they were lifelong employees of the Western Union Telegraph Company. Mrs. Kimsey served as an accountant in the Macon office until her early retirement in 1978 when she began a new full time job as grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Ingleside Baptist Church, and a member and officer of the Macon Business and Professional Women's Club. She has been a resident of Carlyle Place for the last 7 years where she has made her mark with her humor, poetry, and determination.
Mrs. Kimsey is survived by her two sons, Bob (Carol) Kimsey of Macon and Bucky (Betty) Kimsey of Newnan, Ga. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Mark (Ashley) Kimsey of San Diego, Ca; Matthew Kimsey of Macon, Ga; Katie Kimsey of Charleston, SC; James and Kyle Kimsey of Newnan, Ga; and 1 great grandchild, Ashton Kimsey of San Diego, Ca.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to Campus Clubs, Inc., 682 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201.
Interment will be private with the Reverend Tom Anderson of First Presbyterian Church and Strong Tower Fellowship officiating. The family can be reached at the home of Bob and Carol Kimsey, 1537 Beaver Oaks Dr, Macon.
