Beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather, Richard "Dick" Wilson peacefully passed away on June 23, 2017, after a lengthy illness. As our hearts hurt for his presence here, peace is found in the knowledge that his battle is over and his victory has been won. Dick was born in New Albany, Indiana, to Sam and Mary Wilson. He graduated from New Albany High School and Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Marketing. He was a member of Kappa Delta Rho fraternity. After graduation, he began his career with Brown & Williamson Tobacco in Louisville, Kentucky. During the next 4 years, he also served with the U.S. Army Reserve at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. He met the love of his life, Judi, in Louisville and they married in 1971. His years with B&W took them to Petersburg, Virginia, and Macon, Georgia, where he retired in Quality Assurance after 34 years. In his days of better health, he and Judi spend vacations riding Rails to Trails bike trails in central Wisconsin and southern Green County, Wisconsin. They also spent vacations in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Alaska, and Cape Cod. He was a passionate student of military history and loved following sports, especially Big Ten football, IU basketball, and the Atlanta Braves. He will always be remembered for his quick sense of humor and wise guidance. He was a member of the Indiana University Alumni Club, Kentucky Colonels, Riverside United Methodist Church and was a life member of the American Philatelic Society. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Judi, Macon, Georgia; daughter Stephanie, grandsons William and Wesley Pendley, Douglasville, Georgia; sister Elizabeth (Warren) Slider and niece Beth (Mike) Dean of Clarksville, Indiana. A private Celebration of Life for family and friends is being held Friday, June 30, 2017. The family would like to thank all Richard's caregivers at Pruitt Health-Peake for the kind and compassionate care shown during his time there. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations in memory of Dick Wilson to Wesley Glen Ministries, 4580 North Mumford Road, Macon, GA 31210; Argus Service Dog Foundation, 4804 Laurel Canyon Blvd., #266, Valley Village, CA 91607; or Canine Assistants, 3160 Francis Road, Milton GA 30004.
