Richard L. Harris

Richard L. Harris, 77, of Macon, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 11:30AM, Thursday, September 3, 2015, with Rabbi Larry Schlesinger officiating at William Wolff Cemetery in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Harris is predeceased by his parents, Henry Harris and Rosalind Harris Fried; and brother, Henry Harris. He graduated from Duke University in 1959 and served in the United State Navy from 1959-1961. Mr. Harris joined his grandfather's insurance agency, Morris Harris Insurance Agency, in 1961. He worked at Dunwody Insurance from 1970 until he retired in 2013. He served on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army since 1962, Lion's Club since 1973, where he served two terms as president, and was a member of Idle Hour Golf and Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Harris of Macon, Georgia; daughter, Lynn L. Harris (Kevin Adkins) of Hot Springs, Arkansas; son, Richard L. Harris, Jr. (Cathy Ann Schwartz Harris) of California; grandchildren, Machya Star Adkins of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Riley Hawthorne Harris of California, and Bodhi Emerson Harris of California.
