Rhett Lloyd Moody, Jr.

Rhett Lloyd Moody, Jr., beloved husband, father and son, died Friday, May 01, 2015. A service will be held at Vineville United Methodist Church on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 11:00AM with visitation to follow. A native of Columbia, SC, Rhett was the son of Frances Youngblood and the late Rhett Lloyd Moody. He attended A.C. Flora High School and the University of South Carolina. Rhett came to Macon in 1968 with PMI, a mortgage insurance company, and was soon hired by one of his customers, Macon Federal Savings and Loan Association. In 1981, he joined Robinson Humphrey (now Morgan Stanley) where he worked for 35 years, most recently as Vice President and Financial Consultant. Marrying the former Suzanne Pilcher in 1970, the couple had two children, Rhett Lloyd Moody, III in 1974, and Anna Katherine Moody in 1985. Rhett adored his children, daughter-in-law, Abigail Kate Mullins Moody, and 15-month old granddaughters, Lila and Betsy. He was passionate about golf and loved his golfing buddies, smiling on the course whether he birdied or bogied. Even while dealing with serious cancer, he shot an 88 on his last 18 hole round. Rhett was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church serving on the Administrative Board several times. He attended the Parlor Class for the past 30 years. He was also a member of Idle Hour Country Club and the Macon Civic Club. Rhett was devoted to his sister, Alise Moody Daniel and brother and sister-in-law, William Henry and Donna Faulks Moody, all of Columbia; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Katherine Pilcher Dodson and Carr Glover Dodson of Macon. He is survived by 9 nieces and nephews; and 15 great nieces and nephews.
