Rebecca Simons, 87, of Macon, Georgia, died Saturday, April 7th, 2018. She was born October 28th, 1930 in Douglas, Arizona to Douglas and Dorothy Douthitt. Both of her parents were born in Arizona before it became a state.Her husband, Glenn Simons, preceded her in death in 2015 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Surviving are her three loving children, Donald K. Ford and his wife Jacque and their children Justin Ford and his family and granddaughter Bethany Ford. Her daughter, Kristi Lee Adams and her husband, Charles and their daughters, Bonnie & Lillie Adams. Her son, Thomas (Rob) Gorman and his wife Cathy and their children, Brian, Michael, Nicole, and Danielle Gorman and their families. Step son, Greg Houlihan also survives her. She was preceded in death by stepson, Brian Houlihan. Surviving also are her brother, Donald Douthitt and his wife Rosie; and three nieces, Suzanne, Elaine and Janna of Phoenix, Arizona and their families. Rebecca, or Becky was born a 2th generation Arizonian in a small copper mining town in Arizona. Her parents then moved her and her brother to Morenci, AZ, another mining town in the desert. Becky was renowned for her piano playing. She played in two churches on Sunday mornings as a high schooler in Morenci. She was a cheerleader at Morenci High in the 40's, very well loved by her classmates and community. She attended college at Arizona State University for 2 years. She married Jim W. Ford, of Morenci in 1951. They had two children Don Ford and Kristi Adams. A few years later she and Jim divorced, and she married Thomas Robert Gorman in 1957 and had a son, Thomas Robert Gorman, Jr. Becky continued to play the piano and organ at church up till her 30's. At 37 she began working for the U.S. Post Office in Scottsdale, AZ. She was a very hard and dedicated worker there for 30 years. Becky lived with her parents and took care of them in their home for 10 years, the last years of their lives. She loved and admired her father, "Dee", probably more than anyone. She moved to Virginia to be with her daughter Kristi and her family. Becky lived in there for 8 years, working with Kristi in their Boutique. It was a lifelong dream come true. Her granddaughters had the luck of her closeness, spending many hours and days with Grandma Becky. Attending a High School reunion at age 70 in Safford, AZ, she rekindled a high school romance with Glenn Simons of Las Cruces, NM. Before we knew it Becky up and married Glen (Jr.) Simons at age 72 for both. They had 10 years together very happy in Las Cruces. Memorial Services will be announced later.
