Raymond L. Greene

Raymond L. Greene, 83, of Gray, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021.  Funeral services will be held Friday, October 29, 20201, at 11:00 a.m. at Haddock Baptist Church with Dr. Ron McClung and the Reverend Maxie Threatt officiating. The family will greet friends Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel.  Burial will be held at Greene Family Cemetery, Gray, Georgia.  Flowers are appreciated or memorial donations may be made to Haddock Baptist Church Building Fund, 180 Ethridge Rd, Haddock, GA 31033.

Son of the late Bolden Thomas and Rosa Mae Dixon Greene, Raymond was born in Miami, Florida and moved to Gray, Georgia when he was 6 years old.  He was a PGA Golf Pro and was owner of Woodland Golf Course until his retirement.  He previously ran Jonesco Golf Course with his late brother, Jerry Greene.

Raymond enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing golf and solitaire, and doing word searches.  He loved the Lord and his church family.  He was a member of Haddock Baptist Church for over 50 years.  Raymond always said, “a stranger was just a friend he hadn’t met yet!”  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernard and Jerry Greene and sister-in-law, Jean Greene.

Raymond is survived by the love of his life, Bonnie Sheffield; sister, Louise Miller; sister-in-law, Martie Greene; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
