Rayford Sam Stephens

Macon- Rayford Sam Stephens, 95, died Monday, December 8, 2008 at home with his granddaughter, Laurie Ann Aguilera. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 1:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, with the Reverend Marty Pearson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family may be contacted at 592 Loblolly Lane and will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday from noon until time for the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, P. O. Box 6533, Macon, GA 31208. Mr. Stephens, son of the late Alexander Hamilton Stephens and the late Annie Kate Newman Stephens, was born in Heard County, GA. He was married to the late Wylene Hortman Stephens, whom he loved dearly. Mr. Stephens was predeceased by his brothers, Buford, Ray, Edward, Paul and Theo Stephens and his sister, Minnie Stephens Haines, and his daughter, Margaret Fulton. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base and was a dedicated Christian member of Parkway Baptist Church. Mr. Stephens is survived by two sisters, Frances Stephens Moore and Nina Stephens Kidd of Moreland, GA; daughter, Frances Gail Broughton; stepdaughters, Margie Watts and Angie Wright; stepsons, Ronnie Glore and Gary Glore; twelve grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
