Ralph Wade Wood

Ralph Wade Wood, born in Johnson County on April 28, 1934 and died on November 11, 2017. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 14th at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church, 3400 Gray Highway. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Services will be conducted by Ryan Wood and Rev. Kimbrell Washburn. Burial following the service for the family will be in Riverside Cemetery. Ralph was the second child of the late Ralph Ennis Wood and Doris Joiner Wood Hill. He spent his childhood in Wrightsville, Georgia, graduating from Wrightsville High School. He moved to Macon in 1952 beginning a 42-year career with Atlanta Gas Light Company. He retired as Senior Marketing Representative after receiving many awards from AGL and the Homebuilders Association of Macon, Georgia. He was a long-time member of Greenwood Baptist Church, was an ordained Deacon and had served in many leadership positions over the years. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Barbara Kilgore Wood, and his three children: Clayton Keith Wood (Sheila), James Ennis Wood (Rachel), and Valerie Wood Johns (Michael). Grandchildren: Kaitlin Wood Akvan (Zack), James Ryan Wood (Ashley), Ariana Johns and Ethan Johns and Jamie Floyd. Siblings: Wendell Wood (Barbara), Judy Wood Rose, Connie Wood Ward, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greenwood Baptist Church Building Fund.
