Dr. Prentiss Edwards Findlay Iii

Prentiss Edwards Findlay III died Saturday, March 21, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Riverside Cemetery. Prentiss Findlay IV will officiate. Following the service, the family will welcome friends at the residence, Cottage 270, The Gables, 5228 Forsyth Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210. Born in Porterdale, Georgia, Dr. Findlay graduated from Lanier High School, Emory at Oxford, and Emory University Medical School. Following medical school, he served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy. He completed his pediatric residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Findlay practiced briefly in Bradenton, Florida before moving to Albany, Georgia to open his private pediatric practice. He later taught pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston before joining the Nemours Children's Hospital in Jacksonville and Pensacola, where he helped establish rural medical clinics in Florida. He was predeceased by his former wife, Elaine Halley Findlay, and his parents, Beulah Floyd Findlay and Prentiss Edwards Findlay, Jr. Dr. Findlay is survived by his son: Prentiss Findlay IV of Charleston, South Carolina; daughter: Susan Carroll of Aiken, South Carolina; Son: Stuart Findlay (Kathryn) of Hendersonville, North Carolina; daughter: Laura Strickland of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother: Richard Findlay (Doris) of Lake Oconee, Georgia; Beverly McKenzie Findlay of Macon and Sandra Findlay of Brasstown, North Carolina ; and close friends James and Geraldine Ussery of Macon.
