Polly Ann Twiggs

Polly Ann Twiggs, 81, of Macon died Tuesday, February 04, 2014. Born in Turner County on October 23, 1932, Mrs. Twiggs was the youngest of the five children of Raymond and Melba Sue Hickman. Both parents and three siblings have preceded her in death. She worked with her late husband, Bernarr L. Twiggs, in his business, Twiggs Construction Company. They were active members of Riverside Golf and Country Club. During the flood of 1994 she volunteered for the Macon chapter of the American Red Cross where she traveled on over 50 disaster trips, taught countless classes and spent many hours answering calls and processing paperwork for 19 years. She was also a gift shop volunteer at the Coliseum Northside Hospital. As a member of North Macon Presbyterian Church, she helped with Vacation Bible School and children's church. She was an avid golfer and loved to play cards with family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Becky Gorman (Randy); son, Mark Twiggs both of Macon; sister, Cortez Tucker of Tifton, Georgia; sister-in-law, Louise Hickman of Ashburn, Georgia; two granddaughters, Dana Smith (Stephen) of Gray, Georgia and Beth Burnsed (Jordan) of Juliette, Georgia; four great grandchildren; and a very special family friend, Becki Hyatt. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM Friday, February 7, 2014 at North Macon Presbyterian Church. Family will greet visitors at the church at 1:00PM. Burial will be private.
