Peggy C. Melvin

Peggy C. Melvin, 85, of Macon, GA, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022.  A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel with the Reverend Jason Dillard officiating.  The family will greet friends Wednesday, August 17, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hart’s Jones County Chapel.  Burial will follow the service at 1:00 p.m. at Sand Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Milan, Georgia.

Daughter of the late J.B. and Irene Watson Collins, Mrs. Melvin was a 1955 graduate of A.L. Miller High School.  She then attended nursing school at Mercer University.  Mrs. Melvin worked as a lunchroom manager and dietitian in the Bibb County School System for 30 years, retiring at T.D. Tinsley.  She was a member of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church and the J.C. Johnson Sunday School Class.  Mrs. Melvin was a great homemaker who was devoted to her husband and children.

Mrs. Melvin is survived by her husband, Will Melvin of Macon; children, Edward Melvin (Bernice) of Macon, Susan G. MaGouirk of Macon, Jay Melvin (Charlene) of Gray, Kathy Osborne (Don) of Macon, and OIivia MaGouirk of Macon; grandchildren, Dusty Melvin, Ryan Melvin (Amanda), Brent MaGouirk, Brian MaGouirk, Brooke MaGouirk, Kyle Melvin (Cassie), Chance Melvin (Bethany), Troy Osborne, Matt Osborne, and Wade Osborne; great grandchildren, Rylie, Kamille, Khloe, Aiden, Presley, Noah, Emmy Kate, Kai, Nolan and a 10th great grandchild, Liam, on the way; and her closest cousin that was like a sister to her, Patricia Chapman of Macon.
