Peggy Ivey Hannah

Peggy Ivey Hannah, 88, of Gray, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022.  Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, January 31, 2022, at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, with the Reverend Jim Johnson officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Hart’s. Burial will be at Ivey’s Chapel Cemetery in Marion, Alabama at 2:00 pm Central Time on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.  Masks are required at the service.

Daughter of the late John Columbus and Mary Griffin Ivey, Mrs. Hannah began working at Southern Bell after graduating from Suttle High School in Alabama.  She later transferred to Southern Bell in Atlanta, Georgia, where she met her future husband on a double date.  While living in Atlanta, she and Bill married in 1956 and started a family.  They later moved to Monroe, Montezuma, Macon, and finally the family settled in Jones County.  She loved her children and enjoyed traveling to see her grandchildren, wherever they might have been.  After retiring from Sanco Products, she very much enjoyed working at Actel Paging on Riverside Drive, a business she and her husband started.  Mrs. Hannah and her husband, Bill, are founding members of Christ Community Church of Gray, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and greeting people.

Mrs. Hannah is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill Hannah of Gray; children, Pamela Hannah Allen (Tommy), and Debbie Hannah Lilly (Jim), both of Port Orange, Florida; grandchildren, Jeff Allen (Michelle), Jon Allen (Abigail), James Allen, Billy Spivey (Katie), Torey Spivey (Maegan), Colby Spivey (Haley), Maury Spivey, Jamie Chamberlain (Charles), Jennifer Lilly, Austin Lilly (Mattie), and Aaron Lilly; and 13 great grandchildren.
