Dr. Paul G. Smaha, Iii

Dr. Paul G. Smaha, III, 59, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024. The family will greet friends from 5PM to 7PM Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Hart’s at the Cupola.  A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, March 8, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family will also greet friends at the Smaha residence following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation, PO Box 871847, Kansas City, MO, 64187.

Son of the late Marie and Paul G. Smaha II, Paul was born in Abington, Pennsylvania, on January 22, 1965. He graduated from Mt. de Sales Academy in 1983. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting/management from Georgia College and a doctorate in Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine (Now Temple University). He returned to Macon in 1997 to join the family practice, Associated Foot & Ankle Centers.

Known for his passion for the outdoors, Paul found solace in hunting, fishing, and golfing. His achievements in these activities were notable, winning the Georgia Predator Hunting Association’s Coyote Classic in 2013 and achieving a Boone and Crockett deer score. In the hearts of his loved ones, Paul's memory will forever live on as a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for nature.

Dr. Smaha is survived by his wife of 26 years, Carol Smaha; daughter, Katlyn Smaha; sons, Paul Smaha, Jake Smaha, and Josh Smaha; sister, Kim Smaha of Macon; brother, Jason Smaha (Michelle); nieces and nephews, Jason Smaha, Heather Smaha, and Tori Smaha of Macon; step mother-in-law, Jean Pong of Queens, New York; brothers-in-law, Will Pong, Allen Pong, and Jack Pong. Paul is predeceased by his father-in-law, Cheung Sun Pong.
