Paul Mcnair Rumble

December 1, 1918 — January 4, 2010

Paul McNair Rumble, 91 passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2010. Beloved husband of Johnnie Ruth Sheffield Rumble for 45 years, proud father to Mary Bell, Harriet Marcet and Barbara Hoyt, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was uncle to Pierce Daniel Sheffield Jr., two great nieces and nephews and five great grandnieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be at 2:00PM at Hart's at the Cupola on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 with Dr. Marcus Tripp, the Reverend James Duke, and Dr. Jack Key officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be between 5:00-7:00PM on Tuesday, January 5th at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Ave, Macon, GA 31204.

Born to Early Cleveland Rumble and Hattie Lou Thrash on December 1, 1918 in Smarr, Georgia, Paul was predeceased by six sisters, Mary Lee Yancey, Josephine Bowden, Laura Galloway, Emily Wood, Sadie Clare Rumble, and Kathleen Brown. In 1937 he graduated from Mary Persons High School in Forsyth and attended Emory at Oxford College from 1937-1939. He entered the service in 1942 and served in WWII with the United States Army as a Tech Sgt with the 60th Signal Corps. He spent 42 years working at the Southern Bell Telephone Company in Macon. Paul was active in Vineville Methodist Church, and was a lifetime member of the Edmund Cook Sunday School class. He was active in the community as a member of Kiwanis, American Legion Joseph N. Neel Jr. Post #3 and the Telephone Company Pioneers.
