Paul Roberts Lamb, Jr.

November 27, 1934 — May 13, 2015

Paul Roberts "Bobby" Lamb, Jr., of Macon, died on May 13, 2015, at his home. A memorial service will be held at Riverside United Methodist Church on May 15, 2015 at 3:00 pm, with the Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the ceremony. Bobby lived his life, spreading love and kindness to all who knew him. Among his many friends were men he had known from childhood, other parents with whom he had shared the joys and tribulations of raising children and who remained good friends after the children were grown, Kappa Alpha fraternity brothers, golfing and poker buddies, and banking colleagues. Bobby said that integrity and honesty were his words to live by and that a shake of the hand was as good as signing any document. Bobby graduated from Lanier High School in 1953 and attended Mercer University for two years before being drafted into the U. S. Army. While in the army, he served eighteen months with the 101st Division at Fort Benning, Georgia. After being honorably discharged, Bobby attended Emory University's Business School, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and, later, from Louisiana State University's School of Banking. In 1960, Bobby married the former Gail Little (Gail L. Lamb, MD), and they had three beautiful children, Laura, Susan, and Paul Roberts III. In 1980, Bobby married Judith Johnson Lee, who also had three children, India, Burt Lee IV, and Christopher. One of Bobby's proudest achievements was his and Judith's successful melding of these two family units into one loving family, which remains so to this day. In 1989, Bobby retired as Executive Vice-President of the Citizens & Southern National Bank (C&S), having been with the bank for thirty-five years, both in Macon and Atlanta. Upon retiring and moving back to Macon from Atlanta, Bobby became the Senior Commercial Lender with First Liberty Bank (now known as BB&T), retiring after seven years in December 1996. Following his second retirement from the banking industry, he and Judith enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe, also taking cruises to the Caribbean, Central America, and Alaska. Bobby enjoyed playing golf two to three times a week, eating lunch with friends, and playing poker once a month. Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Paul Roberts Lamb, Sr. and Louise Bryan Lamb, and his sister, Betty Lamb Williams. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of thirty-five years, Judith Johnson Lamb; daughters Laura Lamb Patrick (Pat) of Atlanta, and Susan Lamb Downey (Scott) of Macon; son Paul Roberts Lamb III (Karen) of Atlanta; stepdaughter India Lee of St. Simons Island; stepsons A. Burton Lee IV (Mary Ann) of Macon, and Judge A. Christopher Lee (Andi) of Rochester, Indiana; and his brother William S. Lamb (Scottie) of Macon. Also surviving are his grandchildren Caroline Patrick and Sim Patrick of Atlanta; Abigail Lamb, Paul Roberts Lamb, IV, and Connor Lamb of Atlanta; Ana Priest of St. Simons Island; Cannon Lee of Atlanta; Abbie Nash and Thomas Nash of Macon; Hannah Lee Bahney (Alex) of Indianapolis, IN; Rhett Lee and Wilson Lee of Rochester, IN; and several nieces and nephews. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bobby's memory to Riverside United Methodist Church, 735 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204. The family would like to thank Bryan Stowe of CareSouth Hospice for his compassion and devoted care. Register online at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola is in charge of arrangements.
