Patrick Emory Hardie, 79, of Macon, passed away on April 19, 2025, after a life filled with faith, family, and friends.
Born March 21,1946, in Billings, Montana, Patrick was the son of Eva and Emory Quincy Hardie. Named in honor of St. Patrick, Pat was a proud graduate of the University of Georgia, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and the prestigious Gridiron Secret Society.
A lifelong UGA fan, Pat cherished fall Saturdays in Athens and never missed a chance to cheer on his Dawgs. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and found serenity at Idle Hour Country Club, where he was a member for fifty years. He loved Georgia peaches, which he gave as gifts each summer — a simple gesture that reflected his warmth, generosity, and thoughtfulness.
Pat was a longtime member of Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church. He was passionate about supporting students in their academic journeys, particularly those from Rabun County High School and his beloved alma mater, Jones County High School. He was a respected figure in real estate development, with a career marked by a passion for connecting people to land and opportunity. But his truest devotion was to the people he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Marlow Hardie; his daughter, Kate Hardie Patterson (Brand); three grandchildren, Quincy Brand, Harris Emory, and Alice Green Patterson; his brother, Thomas Hardie; his sister, Victoria Hardie Hinson; his stepsons, Mitchell and Robert Yates; and many dear friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his late wife and Kate’s mother, Catherine Green Hardie.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will welcome friends at a reception immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Patrick Hardie Memorial Fund at the North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF). Contributions will support scholarships for students, especially those from Jones County High School. Checks should be made payable to NGCF with Patrick Hardie Memorial Fund in the memo line, and mailed to: 340 Jesse Jewell Parkway SE, Suite 605, Gainesville, GA 30501. Donations to the Fund can also be made online at: www.ngcf.org/donate.
