Patricia Kay Summey Joyner, age 78, loving wife, mother, and grandmother was welcomed into the arms of her Savior, Sunday, January 7, 2018 after a six-year battle with brain cancer. An avid golfer, arts and crafts enthusiast, and karaoke singer, she lived a full life centered on family, enriched by friends and fulfilled by serving and supporting others. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 2 o'clock at Pierce Chapel Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. Born May 12, 1939, she was the only child of Marion and Paul Summey. Her father played trumpet for Lawrence Welk and she spent her childhood years traveling with the band and riding her tricycle on the ballroom floor. When she entered high school, the family settled in Ft. Myers, Florida, where she was a cheerleader and the 1959 queen of the Edison Pageant of Light. Pat received a bachelor of music degree from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia where she was 1961 May queen and met her adoring husband, Jerry Wade Joyner, to whom she was married July 15, 1961. For 57 years, she supported and loved her husband and family moving numerous times while making the most in each location. Dallas, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Charleston and Weeki Wachee were historical cities to explore and places their family called home. In her late forties, she began a career with Piedmont Airlines/US Air to take advantage of flight benefits. She enjoyed traveling and supporting each grandchild in their personal pursuits. She was a positive, supportive, always smiling, and everyone's biggest cheerleader. She would forge a flood and drive through ice to be there for those she loved. Pat is survived by her husband, Jerry, and her three children; Kim and Paul Stehr, Wade (Ashley Kirby) Joyner, Leslie and David Langley as well as their six grandchildren, Lexi Michael and her husband Jordan, Connor Stehr, Cameron Joyner, Caroline Langley, Brooks Langley, and Jackson Langley.
